Abstract

With the growing problem of using electronic cigarettes, recent research paper has started to concentrate on their harmful effects on health. Young adults being significantly more likely to use e-cigarettes in recent years, but it is unclear if these users would not have otherwise smoked cigarettes or if they are just replacing traditional cigarettes with e-cigarettes. Researchers found that e-cigarette exposure may have potentially harmful consequences on people, animals, and cells, even though the safety evaluation of the long-term repercussions of e-cigarette consumption is yet unknown. While the toxicity mechanisms of electronic cigarettes are comparable to those of regular cigarettes, they are distinct in that the former mostly manifest as DNA damage, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses. Overall, electronic cigarettes also affect both individual and public cardiovascular and respiratory health. Interventions aimed at improving health and smoking cessation need to address both traditional and electronic cigarettes and the various factors that influence its used among young individuals.
