Abstract

The present study is focusing on medication adherence among patients with hypertension and its potential implications on hypertension management. The study involved 50 patients diagnosed with hypertension who were undergoing treatment with anti-hypertensive medications and to assess the medication adherence the Morisky medication adherence scale (MMAS-8) was used. By employing the Morisky medication adherence scale (MMAS-8), the study collected data through surveys via questionnaire to the participants. The results revealed a concerning trend, with a significant portion of the patient population demonstrating low adherence to their prescribed anti-hypertensive medications. This finding is particularly an alarming situation that should be consider because hypertension is a major contributor to various other medical conditions. So, it is concluded that the challenge of low adherence among patients taking anti-hypertensive medications and emphasize on the urgency of addressing this issue to mitigate the broader health risks associated with hypertension.
