Abstract

This research investigates the association and the risk factor between BCRP C421A polymorphism with breast cancer patients in Thailand. 50 breast case samples from the National Cancer Institute of Thailand and 50 healthy controls from peripheral blood of people who never had a history of cancer cases were collected. The polymorphism in A BCRP C421A gene was determined by using PCR-RFLP assays. We analyzed the BCRP genetic polymorphism, the overall mutant (C/A) and wildtype (C/C) of the control samples were 6.0% and 94.0% and the patients were 14.0% and 86.0% respectively. The result showed that there was prone a significantly increased risk factor for developing breast cancer (OR 2.550). However, no association was found between BCRP gene polymorphism and clinico-pathological parameters.
