Advancements in Healthcare: The Impact of Technology on Enhancing Accessibility to Medical Services
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Technological advancements have transformed healthcare systems by improving access to medical services and reducing traditional barriers such as distance and limited resources. Digital health technologies are increasingly used to support more inclusive and efficient healthcare delivery.
Objectives: This study aims to examine the impact of telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and mobile health (mHealth) in enhancing healthcare accessibility across diverse settings.
Methods: A qualitative approach using a systematic literature review was applied. Relevant studies were collected from Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar through identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion stages. A total of 25 peer-reviewed articles published within the last decade were analyzed using thematic analysis.
Results: Telemedicine improves access by enabling remote consultations. AI enhances diagnostic accuracy and supports clinical decision-making. mHealth applications promote patient engagement through continuous monitoring and self-management. The integration of these technologies strengthens healthcare efficiency and coordination while supporting preventive care.
Conclusions: Despite the benefits, challenges such as limited infrastructure, low digital literacy, regulatory issues, and data privacy concerns remain. A holistic approach combining technology, policy support, and capacity building is essential to achieve equitable healthcare accessibility.
