Abstract

Background: Several distinct mucogingival issues—such as a shallow vestibule, gingival recession, insufficient width of attached gingiva (AG), and aberrant frenum pull are some of the major periodontal problems which shows its adverse effects on function and esthetics. The primary motivation of perio-plastic procedures is typically esthetic concerns and functional demands. The major aim of the periodontal therapy is to restore function, health, and appearance, imperfections in the esthetic area. Though the treatment of periodontal diseases has certain challenges, at present there are many different periodontal plastic procedures that can be used to treat the mucogingival diseases.

Method: Bridge flap technique is one example of surgery that offers root coverage, relives high frenal attachment, provides gain in vestibular depth and width of attached gingiva in a single step. A 30 years old female patient presents with the complaint of recession and dentinal hypersensitivity in relation to 41 with inadequate vestibular depth and aberrant frenal attachment and opts for treatment with double lateral sliding bridge flap.

Results: The primary outcome of this case report is the successful management of multiple mucogingival defects—namely gingival recession, inadequate width of attached gingiva, shallow vestibular depth, and high frenal attachment

Conclusion: Bridge flap technique encompasses all surgical methods that effectively tackles multiple issues at once—enhancing vestibular depth, covering exposed root surfaces, increasing the width of attached gingiva (AG), and correcting aberrant frenum attachment.
